Alnis Stakle is a young Latvian photographer and a strong colorist. At first glance, his works appear calm and polite. But that’s a deception. In 2006, Miria Swain, the curator of the Modern Art Oxford Gallery had this to say about him: “There isn’t a single style or system which can exhaustively characterize the photographs of Alnis Stakle. Here, both documentary techniques and an artistic approach meet, forming what at first seems to be the eclectic nature of his work. But despite the diversity and broad range of his works, one soon becomes aware of the degree to which his photographs are thought through.”
