Rena Effendi was born in 1977 in Baku (Azerbaijan). She focused on documentary photography in 2001. In 2006 her work was exhibited at the 18th Visa Pour L’image Festival of Photojournalism in Perpignan (France) and at Les Imagiques Festival in Bordeaux (France). She has publications in such media like Le Monde, Le Figaro, Liberation, Courrier International, Newsweek, Days Japan, Reponse Photo. Rena Effendi is represented by Grinberg Gallery (ex-Gallery.Photographer.ru) since 2007. In 2013 has become the World Press Photo 2013 jury member.
