The International professional photo-award Prix Pictet 2012 has announced its short-list, consisting of 12 nominees. Rena Effendi is one of those. The photographer has presented her project “Chernobyl, Still Life In The Zone”, which shows the territories of Chernobyl a quarter of a century after the tragedy. The Awardee will be announced in September, but today you can see the chosen works of the Award nominees on the Prix Pictet Award site. The Prix Pictet Award was established by the largest Swiss private bank Pictet & Cie in 2008. Unlike many other photography awards, authors can’t apply directly, but are invited by a group of elected experts, including world-class gallery owners, critics, curators and journalists. Every year the Award is dedicated to a certain topic, and this time the topic was “Power”. The winner will be awarded with 100 000 Swiss franks and an assignment from the Pictet & Cie Bank.
