Roger Ballen gave interview to E-Photoreview – the biggest portal dedicated to modern photography.
During the ten minute conversation Roger Ballen and Fabio Severo talked about the evolution in photographer’s creative work, about the interaction between a photograph and a viewer, about goals and aims of photography as an art form.
Answering the question about complicated emotions his work cause now and again Ballen said: “The work of art should stay in the memory of a person who has seen it. It has to broaden the consciousness bounds, excite imagination. Perhaps if my photographs arouse anxiety, fear in viewers then the problem is in viewers themselves, not in the photographs. Probably, the photographs awake some drowsy fears. But they are the cure at the same time.
