Photographer.Ru Gallery (Moscow) together with White Space Gallery (London) are pleased to present the two-parted exhibition of works by one of Lithuania’s leading contemporary art photographers, Antanas Sutkus.
The London part of the exhibition will show “Lithuanian Portraits” from 11 September till 10 October whereas “Signs of the Time” will be shown in Moscow from 26 September till 26 October.
Photographer.Ru gallery is happy to launch a long-term programme “The origins of the contemporary Russian photography” which starts with Antanas Sutkus solo exhibition. Within its framework we also intend to show the works of Nikolay Bakharev, Valery Shekoldin, Georgy Pinkhasov and Andrey Bezukladnikov. This is an attempt to comprehend and reflect on the Russian contemporary photography scene. After the fall of the Iron Curtain the country was flooded by information on western photography to which the most powerful influence on the formation of Russian photography was ascribed. The statement is unfair as well as the suggestion that the Russian school of photography never existed at all. Alongside with the highlighting the current world trends, Photographer.ru Gallery is eager to show the elder generation of Russian photographers in contemporary context.
