The exhibition by gallery and agency Photographer.ru author Alexander Gronsky took place in one of the biggest Beijing hotels – Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center. The series of photographs united by the topic Water and Mountains taken during his recent visit to Celestial.
The exhibition became the first project of the Art Support Programm Kempinski in China. Within this program established in 2009 several major events have been organized. Among them are those made in collaboration with the MoMA, the Guggenheim Museum and the Berlin Philharmoniker of Germany. For Alexander Gronsky as one of the program participants it is the first experience of work with Kempinski. In search of the solution Gronsky turned to traditional Chinese painting. Hills and lakes panoramas were kept and viewed as scrolls. The image was not intended to momentary perception as a whole: a scroll was rewound as a roll of film and was perceived consistently, in dynamics, as a story. Thus in the scrolls we have the dialectics of opposite ends of the same work, the inner development and the inner contradiction embedded in the work. In this way Gronsky has come to his two part panoramic works: each landscape is made of two pictures put in one frame; this composition method sends to the Chinese scrolls format.
