The Latvian photographer and, Photographer.ru artist Alnis Stakle has received a Sony World Photography Award 2011 in the category of Fine Art: Architecture.
This year 150 000 professionals and amateurs from 126 countries took part in the contest, which was organized by the World Photography Organisation. The prestigious prize was awarded to Alnis Stakle for his series Lost:Paris, which the author admits, is a psychological study of the interplay between the person and the city.
The photographer did not try to capture a concrete moment, event or place. He searched for a new method of perceiving the urban environment. “My aim is to construct subjective experience and knowledge that is visually and conceptually not based on a traditional editorial approach or documentary storytelling strategies used in photography», – Alnis Stakle comments.
