Fourteen experienced photographers, working in the legendary Italian photography agency Grazia Neri (founded in 1967, closed last year due to financial difficulties) decided to combine their own private funds and archives – approximately 600,000 photographs – and establish a new agency called Black Archives.
Black Archives is art, politics, fame, travels, fashion and news through photography. In addition, there is a large collection of historic images.
The initial participants in Black Archives were Fabio Massimo Aceto, Graziano Arici, Giovanbattista Brambilla, Gerald Bruneau, Basso Cannarsa, Remo Casilli, Leonardo Cendamo, Titti Fabi, Fulvia Farassino, Francesco Garufi, Grazia Ippolito, Daniele La Malfa, Marcello Mencarini and Roberto Ponti.
The number of photographers wishing to enter the project is constantly growing.
Daria Bonera
Daria Bonera was born in Milan, Italy, in 1978. After graduating with a degree in Fashion Marketing from St. Martins School in London, she started working for the Contrasto Photo Agency in Milan. In 2004 she moved to Grazia Neri Photo Agency, where she represented several international agencies and photographers. Bonera went to New York in 2008 to work as the agent of documentary photographer Donna Ferrato and represented Grazia Neri’s photographers throughout the U.S. while collaborating with magazines such as The New York Times, Newsweek, Time, New Yorker, Conde Nast Portfolio, Vanity Fair, Traveler, National Geographic and other major publications. In the end of 2008, she came back to Milan as photo editor for Grazia, a weekly woman’s magazine published by Mondadori.
In April 2009 Bonera started her own agency representing selected photographers for advertising and corporate work.
