From January 25 to March 3, 2012 an Alexander Gronsky exhibition will be on display at Polka Galerie in Paris demonstrating his works from the series Mountains and Waters. This will be the second exhibition in Paris of photographs he took during a trip to China in spring 2011. The first time it was held at L’Escale Gallery in November 2011.
The composition of the whole series in diptych panoramic works brings to life images of Chinese painting scrolls. Interestingly, the characters for the words mountain and water together form the Chinese word for landscape.
Mountains and Waters is one of the Alexander Gronsky’s latest works. His previous series The Edge was awarded the Aperture Portfolio Prize 2009 and the Foam Paul Huf 2010 award. In 2011 it received the Photo-Levallois Prize.
