Roman Pyatkovka was born in 1955 in Kharkov, where he lives and works today. He graduated from the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute and Kiev National University of Theatre, Film and Television named Karpenko-Karogo. From 1979 to 1984 he worked as a chief designer of the light design at the Theater of Young Spectators. Since 1980 he is interested in photography. The teacher and the mentor for Roman Pyatkovka was Boris Mikhailov – one of the famous photographer in the world. In 1989 he began his exhibition activity, the same year he became a member of the National Union of Photo Artists of Ukraine.
